About Us

We are a team of theoretical physicists trying to understand the Universe, focusing on the ever-perplexing properties and nature of gravity, space and time.

Our team consists of faculties, postdocs, and students with different backgrounds and experience. We are seeking more international talents to add to the diversity and vibrancy of our group.

We aim to become a center of excellence in theoretical gravitational physics research.

We are in close collaborations with colleagues both in China and abroad. We organize conferences, seminars, workshops and summer schools to further promote collaborations.

"The effort to understand the universe is one of the very few things that lifts human life a little above the level of farce, and gives it some of the grace of tragedy.” – Steven Weinberg

“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality.” – Albert Einstein

“The black holes of nature are the most perfect macroscopic objects there are in the universe: the only elements in their construction are our concepts of space and time.” - Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar

“One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don't throw it away.” ― Stephen Hawking

About Us

The Center for Gravitation and Cosmology (CGC) is a research center founded in 2017 at Yangzhou University, in the Jiangsu Province of China. It is an initiative of the BRICS-Association of Gravity and Cosmology, with support from the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). The center is currently hosted on the 3rd floor of the College of Physical Sciences and Technology building, on the scenic Slender West Lake campus.
